Google making a blanket statement about knives, it will certainly influence people and even law makers, and give the feeling that somehow knives are bad and need to be constantly banned or regulated.
It will probably influence the weak-minded, whose thinking is beyond our rescue on many levels more than just knives, regardless of Google policies. The more entertainment-addicted our culture becomes, it’s probable that the ratio of weak minded and easily manipulated people to sensible ones is increasing. They will increasingly continue to elect manipulators to positions of power, and authority will continue to be abused. It’s a fertile growing condition for hypocrisy.
However, I am (perhaps foolishly) optimistic that even the weakest sheep will someday encounter a situation that drives him/her/it past their piss-off point, and starts them on the path to being less sheepish.
I am also 100% dang sure that there are still stalwart Americans who will acquire and carry and use the knives/guns/vehicles/gas cans they see fit, in spite of dumb-ass laws and corporate policies, setting a good example for the weak minded in a position to receive it.
So slyraven, while I see your point about the Google thing, and I admire your speaking up about it, i think it’s kinda a drop in the societal bucket, a mild symptom of a more serious mental ailment. Keep growing stronger, encourage others to grow stronger, and stay out of the way of the worst consequences of others’ stupidity. Best of luck to you.
